Afghanistan
is a maltreated country having passed a 40-year war. It has one
of the highest numbers in illiterates, high children and women
mortality. It is the land with the most amputees, and it sinks
into corruption and drug trafficking where the mafia gains increasing
influence. On these sad records of desolation and despair fundamentalism
has found a fertile ground. Because of the strong presence of
negative news in the media we have no idea about the bright sides
of this old cultural country. There is an unbelievable treasure
of old poetry, music and traditions to preserve which was threatened
by the Taliban and still is by the increasing strength of fundamentalism.
The destruction of the Buddha statue in Bahmian is still present
to all of us. The “Ensemble Afghan” has set the task
to show this other Afghanistan, the beautiful lyrics, the poetry
and the music from the time before the insanity. |
