born
in Kaboul started to learn the toolah transverse flute. He then
studied mandolin with Ustad Farokh Afandi. At the same time he
sang at the Balladie Theatre, before he then joined the legendary
Radio Kaboul where he worked in the archives department. Noticed
for his gift for music he was sent to Belgrade where he studied
guitar for seven years at the University of Arts. He then returned
back to Kaboul where he became e member of the second orchestra
of the Radio Kaboul and became a professor on the Lyceum of Music
as well. He made many world tours, many of them accompanied by
his son Khaled Arman. All his children studied music. And when
he and his family were forced to flee his homeland he settled
in Swiss and founded the “Ensemble Kaboul” to preserve
the endangered musical traditions of his country. His ensemble
was touring the world with the legendary Ustad Mahvash the only
female singer in Afghanistan who ever received the title Ustad
(master). |
